There are different ways to watch video files from PC on Meta Quest. In the previous guide, we discussed how you can connect PC and Oculus Quest over Wi-Fi and stream videos from PC to Oculus Quest using Skybox VR Player on the headset and its PC client on the desktop or laptop. You can see that we use AirScreen, a built-in tool with Skybox VR player, to stream local videos from PC to VR devices wirelessly over Wi-Fi. In fact, other than that, you can also make use of the file sharing in Windows OS to share videos, movies and other files over network.
Turn on File Sharing in Windows 11
If you want to share files from a Windows 11 computer, you need to first turn on both Network discovery and File & printer sharing. Here’s how to do so.
Open File Explorer, go to Network, and see an error message (“Network discovery is turned off….”), you’ll need to turn on network discovery to see devices on the network that are sharing files. To turn it on, select the Network discovery is turned off banner, then select Turn on network discovery and file sharing.
Share files on Windows 11
Open File Explorer on Windows computer, find the folder with movies and videos beneath you like to share. Right-click the folder and select the Properties option. Click on the Sharing tab, then the Share button. On the Choose people to share with screen, add Everyone to share with.
After you complete the file sharing steps, you should be able to access your PC using your PC user and password and open the shared folder.
Access Windows PC from Oculus Quest using Skybox
First of all, make sure your computer and headset are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open Skybox VR player on your headset. Click Network from the left navigation panel, you should find your PC name.
