By default, the light mode, with dark text showing up against a light screen, is activated for most phones and apps. As a supplemental mode, dark mode displays a light color text (white or grey) against a dark or black background. It can reduce eye strain and provide comfort of use at night or in dark environments. In an previous post, we demonstrated how you can activate dark mode on Tecno mobile phones that are running on HiOS 6 or later.

If you have upgraded to the latest HiOS 7.6, you will find it has been polished with automatic smart switch. You no longer have to manually activate the dark theme when you use your phone at night. Once enabled, the dark theme or mode can be automatically switched on at sunset and return to its standard theme at sunrise.
To turn on the automatic dark mode, go to device Settings, locate and tap Display and Brightness > Dark Theme > Schedule. You should see three different dark theme available option to pick from. Simply click on sunset to sunrise. If you like to put it back to its original status, just swipe down your notification panel and tap the Dark theme icon to turn it off. Anytime in the future you like to re-enable it after the initial setup, swipe down your notification panel and tap the Dark theme icon to turn it on again.
