Want to play music and movies saved on your computer using your mobile phone? Instead of copying these media files over, you can also choose to stream them off your PC to your smartphone over Wi-Fi. You don’t need even to install any third-party media server software on the computer as Windows OS has integrated the media server streaming feature. So in order to stream music and videos from PC to Android, you need to tweak a few settings on your windows PC, then use a free media player app for Android to access and play the media files saved on your computer. Follow the quick instructions below.
Step 1. Enable media streaming on computer
Search for ‘media streaming options‘ at the bottom taskbar on your Windows 10 computer. Find media streaming options from the search result and click to open it in Control Panel. Click the Turn on media streaming button to enable DLNA on Windows 10 PC.

Launch Windows Media Player on your PC, click Organize > Manage libraries, select the categories and then add your music albums, video folders to the libraries on media server.

Step 2. Streaming music, movies from PC to Android
On your mobile phone, you can use a media player to access the media server on your PC and streaming off the media content. You don’t have to pay for a premium music or movie player, there are many free options out there. We recommend VLC media player, PlayXtreme media player. They are powerful and yet free. They can help Android users easily access media server on computer in the local network and stream music and movies from PC to mobile phone over Wi-Fi connection.
Run VLC media player on your phone, tap on the Menu button at the top left corner to open the side menu, then choose Local Network, the player will then search for all available media servers, file sharing nearby. Tap your PC or media library name to connect, then browse to the media files on the server and play them on your Android device.

If you use PlayXtreme media player, switch to the Network tab from the bottom, all saved shares will be listed. Scroll to the very button on this screen, you will find the Discovered section where your Windows media server should be found. Simply tap to access the media server, find and play the media files saved on the media server on your PC using your Android phone or tablet.
