The mobile data or internet connection share features seems to be found on almost every smartphone we use today. We can see it on iPhone, Samsung Galaxy phone, LG, HTC, Lenovo, Xiaomi, ZTE, just to name a few. I shoot photos with my Huawei phone and send the photos to my laptop to finish them in Photoshop, then publish them to my blog right from the laptop. The mobile data sharing is a really great help when I am on the go without a Wi-Fi network. BTW, I usually use the phone’s data network other than a public Wi-fi due to security concern.
Portable Hotsport VS Bluetooth tethering VS USB tethering
You can choose Wi-Fi hotspot tethering, Bluetooth tethering or USB tethering when you share mobile data from Huawei mobile with a computer.
I would recommend Wi-Fi tethering. You don’t have to use a cable to connect the phone to your laptop like the USB tethering. No need to paring the two devices like Bluetooth tethering. Both USB tethering and Bluetooth tethering allow users to connect one device at a time. USB tethering does not work between mobile phones, tablets. Wi-fi hotspot is wireless, fast, cross-platform. You can share your mobile data with up to 8 devices at the same time.
Share mobile data with laptop from Huawei phone via hotspot
Here is how you can easily share your internet connection on Huawei phone through Wi-fi hotspot.
Go to enable mobile data on Huawei phone from Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network > Mobile data > ON.
Go back to the Wireless & networks screen in Settings, choose Tethering & portable hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot.
Then choose Configure Wi-Fi hotspot to set or find out the password for Wi-fi hotspot connection.
On your PC or Mac computer, turn on Wi-fi, search for your Huawei phone hotspot name, connect to it with the password. It is just that easy.
Enable Wi-Fi hotspot from notification center
In the future, you can simply pull down the notification center from the top of your Huawei phone to quickly enable Mobile data and portable hotspot. Then connect your laptop to Huawei phone Wi-fi hotspot without the need to manually type in its password as your PC or Mac will save the password for connected networks automatically.
Manage Wi-Fi hotspot connections on Huawei phone
By default the maximum connections via Wi-fi hotspot is set to 8 devices. We usually do not need to connect 8 devices to our phone at the same time. You can reduce to 1 or 2 from the hotspot settings.
If you find some unknown device connected to your phone, you can disconnect it from your Wi-Fi hotspot. You can turn off the hotspot on mobile, change the password for hotspot network, or even add a connected device to the Blacklist to prevent it from connecting to your phone again.
Set data limit on Huawei phone
Huawei phone allows users to set data quota to share with other devices via hotspot. If the data limit is reached, the phone will automatically turn off the portable hotspot.
