Sharing files between an Android phone and Windows PC can be really easy using the right apps. We have introduced several file transfer apps in previous posts, notably Xender, Zapya, SHAREit, etc. All those apps or solutions are free, wireless, easy to use. Also many geeks prefer third-party file managers and explorer for extended features to those system included file managers. And many of them also come with file sharing tools. Today, we’ll show you how to use the CX File Explorer app on Android to share files between Android mobile and Windows PC over Wi-fi.
About CX File Explorer
Cx File Explorer is a powerful file manager app for Android with clean and intuitive interface. Users can use it to browse and manage the files on local storage, PC, and even cloud storage.
There are different ways to share files between your Android device and a Windows PC using CX File Explorer. We will just talk out two of the easiest methods in this guide.
Share files between Android and PC via FTP
Launch the file explorer app on your Android device, switch from the Local to the Network tab at the lower half section.

Then tap on Access from Network > Start Service.

You will then get the FTP address(server IP and port number), username and password.

Connect your computer to the same Wi-Fi network as your mobile phone.
Open the File Explorer on your Windows computer, type in the FTP server address, like ftp://192.168.50.75:8791 as shown in the above screenshot, in the address bar and press Enter to visit. You will then be prompted to input FTP username and password before you can access your mobile phone from computer. Make use to use your own FTP server address, username and password.
After that you will be able to browse and even open files saved on your Android device right from your computer using the file explorer. You can copy files from computer and paste them to Android or the other way around.
Access Windows shared files folders from Android
Windows OS offers the file sharing feature which allows users to easily share any folder, file, pictures, videos, links, folders, or even drives on the computer with devices or other computers in the local network.
First of all, make sure the Network discovery and File and printer sharing options are activated from the system settings. Then open File Explorer on your PC. Navigate to the folder that you want to share with others and right-click it. Select Show more options > Properties. In the pop-up window, select the Sharing tab and click the Share button. Then select Everyone to share with and follow on-screen tips to create the shared folder on Windows computer.
Again make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-fi as your computer. Otherwise they won’t detect or connect each other.
Launch CX File Explorer on the smart phone, then navigate to Network > New location > Remote > Local Network.

The file explorer app will scan the network and find your PC.

Tap on your PC name, then enter your Windows username and password.

After the authentication, your shared folder from PC appears in the file explorer on Android, you can begin sharing files back and forth using this free file explorer.
