Most smartphones come with the hotspot feature which allow users to share their phone’s internet connection or cellular data with other devices via Wi-Fi. Mobile hotspot is very useful when you do not have access to home internet or regular Wi-Fi networks. Other than sharing mobile data connection, many apps can also make use of hotspot to share files and data with nearby devices. In this article, we will walk you through the process to activate Wi-Fi hotspot on an itel phone. Keep in mind the settings may vary by phone or model as you can see from screenshots below.
Enable Wi-Fi hotspot on itel phone
Unlock itel moble phone screen. Launch Settings from the desktop.

Select Network connection. Tap Hotspot & tethering or Wi-Fi hotspot. Settings may vary depending on the itel phone model you have.

Select Wi-Fi hotspot and turn it on.

Optionally change the hotspot name and Hotspot password and save. On some Itel mobile phones, you need to tap on the entry Set up Wi-Fi hotspot, then configure or change the settings for hotspot network name, password, security protocol, AP band, max connections limit, etc.

There are two major ways to connect other phone, tablet to the Wi-Fi hotspot activated on the Itel phone.
Method 1. Manually connect a phone to Wi-Fi hotspot
- Turn on Wi-Fi on the other device, iPhone or Android;
- Find the list of available Wi-Fi networks and select your own Wi-Fi hotspot created on itel mobile;
- Key in the hotspot password when prompted.
Method 2. Scan to connect to Wi-Fi hotspot
As you can see the itel phone creates a QR code when you turn on the portable hotspot on them mobile. Other than manually type in the hotspot name and its password, you can use your phone’s camera to scan this QR code and establish the wireless connection automatically.
Scan QR code to connect Wi-Fi with iPhone
You can run the Camera app from the Home Screen, Control Center or Lock Screen on iPhone to scan the QR code for Wi-Fi hotspot on itel to quickly connect an iPhone to itel mobile hotspot. Other than taking a picture, the Camera app on iPhone is smart enough to scan the QR code and detect it as a Wi-Fi hotspot, so you can connect to it without manually typing in hotspot name or password.
Scan QR code to connect Wi-Fi with Android
Android has the same feature to connect to a Wi-Fi network using QR code. It works differently on Android though. As we mentioned above the settings on Android may vary by phone. We will use a Tecno mobile in the demo below.
Open Settings app on Android phone. Tap on Network & internet > Wi-Fi. Look for an option to add network by QR code. The Add network option can usually be found below the long list of available Wi-Fi networks. See below screenshot.

Itel mobile Wi-Fi hotspot bonus tips
Once you have configured the Wi-Fi hotspot from Settings, set the hotspot name and password, you can quickly enable it from the Quick Settings on itel mobile phone. Simply swipe down from the top of your phone screen to bring down the Quick Settings and tap Hotspot to quickly turn it on.

The number of devices connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot is usually limited to 8. Some itel phones may allow users to change the maximum device number. Generally speaking, you can’t connect more than 8 devices. Also, the number of connected devices will impact the internet speed you get on all connected devices.
If you need only to share files between Android phones in the local network, you may turn of cellular data or mobile data when you use Wi-Fi hotspot on the itel phone.
When you use your Itel phone as a mobile hotspot to connect other devices to the internet, you may want to keep an eye on the data usage when you do not have an unlimited plan as extra fees may occur.
