Android mobile phones have built-in tools to help users record screen videos and webcam. But they do not allow users record both webcam and screen at the same time. When you record gameplay, create how-to presentations, make video demos, you may want to record yourself and the phone screen at the same time. In this quick guide, we will show you how to add webcam overlay to screen while recording using a free screen recorder for Android.
XRecorder screen recorder for Android helps you capture clear screen videos in the easiest way. Tools and controls can be accessed through the floating toolbar on your phone screen. Just with a tap on the floating window, you can record video tutorial, video calls and online videos.
The screen recorder comes with Facecam feature which helps you record your face and reaction in a small overlay window. It can be dragged freely to any position on the screen and customized to any size.
Enable camera recording
Before we get started, we have to enable camera recording to allow XRecorder to use your webcam or front-facing camera to record yourself along with the screen recording.
Launch XRecorder app on your mobile phone, switch to the Videos tab from the bottom. Now tap on the down arrow icon at the top right corner to expand the Tools section where you can find Camera, Screenshot, Brush and Floating Ball. Touch Camera to open the webcam, front camera on your phone.
Record screen and webcam simultaneously
Touch the Add button (+) at the bottom of XRecorder app, then choose Record Video to start the screen and webcam recording. Alternatively you can touch to open its floating menu on your phone screen and quickly start screen recording from there.
Once your screen is being recorded, you will see a message at the top of your phone screen saying the recorder is using microphone. Now you have the option to pause/resume, stop, edit recording from the floating toolbar. Finish the recording, you can then find the recorded screen video from the Video tab in XRecorder app.
