Occasionally we may need to mirror our computer display to another computer or mobile phone. For example, you may need to use one display as a reference and do your actual work in the other, or like to present some work to other people in the room to better facilitate discussion. In a previous guide, we showed how you can mirror or extend PC screen to mobile phone or tablet using Deskreen. Today, we will discuss how you can do it on a Mac.
Go to download Deskreen onto your Mac from this link. Since this screen sharing app requires screen recording permission on your Mac, you have to firstly head to System Preference >> Security & Privacy >> Privacy >> Screen Recording to grant it this permission to Deskreen. Hit the lock icon at the bottom left corner, input your Mac password, so you will be able to make changes and click to select Deskreen in the app list to allow it record your Mac screen.
You don’t have to install any app on your mobile phone or tablet in order to connect Deskreen on the Mac, you can just use your mobile browser to access Deskreen through Wi-Fi.
Once started, Deskreen will provide you a QR code and an IP address on its home screen.
Connect your Android phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. Use your Android to scan the QR code and then access Deskreen using the web browser on your mobile or tablet. Alternatively you can also manually type in the Deskreen IP address access it on your mobile device.
After that, Deskreen on Mac will prompt you the connection request. Click the Allow button in Deskreen on Mac to accept the connection and then select the screen source to share: the whole screen or app window.
After that, you will have the chance to preview and confirm the screen or app to be shared before mirroring the Mac display to Android.
Note that by default Deskreen mirror your Mac display to other mobile devices. If you like to extend your Mac screen instead of mirroring it, you need to purchase a Virtual Display Adapter or Display Dummy Plug. This small plug can fool your computer into thinking an external display is connected. So you can use it as second monitor and thus mirror this virtual second screen to other computer, mobile phone, tablet or even smart TV.
