Copy text from images on Android mobile

In an previous article, we used a free scanner app to extract, copy text from screenshots on Android phone. In fact, some stock apps on Android may also support OCR or scanning functionality. Google Photos is a good example. This app is pre-installed on many Android smartphones. If you can’t find it on your phone, you can head to Google Play store to get it for free. Here’s how you can scan images, screenshots, photos using Google Photos app and copy text from them on Android mobile phones.

Launch the Photos app on your phone. Find and open the image or screenshot you want to copy text from in this app. The app will automatically analyze the image and scan for text on it. After that, you will see the Copy text from image option below the image or screenshot. See below screenshot.

Simply tap on this Copy text from image option, then select any or all text from the photo or picture file. If you can’t find this option. Find and touch the Google Lens icon at the bottom.

You will then be provided with various options: Copy text, Search, Listen, Translate, Copy to computer and so on.

Once you have selected the text, tap on the Copy text button. Then open the app you like and paste the copied text to it.
