Zapya is a free, cross-platform file transfer solution. It allows two devices to connect through Wi-Fi, hotspot or Wi-fi Direct. When you don’t have access to Wi-Fi network, you can still use it to share files across various devices through personal hotspot or WiFi Direct. Today, we will show you how to share files between Android phone and Windows computer via WiFi Direct using this free app.
Get the file transfer for PC and mobile phone here before we get started. Zapya works with all major Android devices, like Samsung, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, Lenovo, Nexus, and Windows OS, such as Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, etc.
Step 1. Turn on Wi-Fi on both Android and PC
Go to turn on Wi-fi on your mobile phone and computer. You don’t have to connect your Android device or Windows PC to any Wi-fi network.
Step 2. Setup Wi-Fi Direct on Android
Run Zapya app on the mobile phone, tap the Transfer button at the bottom to open the Connect to Share screen like this.

Tap Set Wifi options. In the next pop-up dialog, change the WiFi type from WiFi hotspot to WiFi Direct. Touch OK button to save and quit.

Return to the Connect to Share screen, then tap Create Group to create a WiFi Direct group on your Android phone. You will then get the group name, password and a QR code beneath.
Step 3. Connect PC to Android WiFi Direct
Launch Zapya file transfer program on your computer, click Join Group, the transfer app will automatically search for connectable groups nearby. Wait until it found your mobile phone, click Connect besides the phone name, then type in the group password to connect.

Step 4. Copy files from phone to PC or vice versa
Once the two devices are connected in Zapya, you can easily select and send files from Android phone to Windows computer or the other way around via WiFi Direct. It is very intuitive to use.
